Summary: "Well written..."

Well written...I enjoyed the book tremendously but really can't say that there was anything missing or too much but you can definitely tell the 9/11 event had major impact on this book. I've always thought Giuliani a bit of a lightweight when it came to conservative politics but reading the way he organizes departments and his life I can see that there does beat the heart of a true conservative...just not one that could get elected as a Republican here in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional district.

Summary: "this is not a leadership guide"

This is not helpful for developing leadership skills. This is a book about management or perhaps just his autobiography. Giuliani dicusses how to manage departments but very little in how to be leader. He never once discusses how he developed future leaders.

The book has some interesting stories but one should look elsewhere for a better guide to developing leadership skills.

Summary: "No False Modesty"

Rudy Guiliani turned New York City around and acted decisively during and after the 9/11 attack. He describes this with no false modesty, nor any kind at all. As far as a leadership book, he discusses HIS leadership, but the applicability of his beliefs("Be your own man", "Everyone is responsible all of the time") is dubious if you don't face precisely the same kind of challenges he did. If you want to delve into the mind and actions of a man in charge of a great city, this is a good book to read or listen to. But it is not a leadership guide. It probably should have been titled something like "The Way I Led New York", not "Leadership" although the latter probably allowed for a better marketing campaign.

Summary: "Interesting read"

Thought Giuliani gave some good points to being a leader and also how to deal with problems in an effective way. Even though I'm not a republican I found it fascinating to read about the culture and the way he does his business.
